STB-9000-675: Disabling Subtitles Guide

Update STB firmware to disable subtitles by default.

Changelog:

• 2024-3-21 Subtitles are turned off by default.
• 2024-4-9 Subtitles are turned off by default.

WARNING:

• This firmware is designed for batch number 308007, 310091 and 401055. Using it on other STBs will render them unusable.
• Firmware updates will erase all personal settings and favourites, restoring the STB to its factory defaults.

To find the batch number of your set-top box:

1. Check the bottom of the box.
2. Look for a label with numbers or letters.
3. Find a series of digits labelled “Batch No.”

Firmware update process

1. Downoad ALI3822P_SDK7_20240409.zip to your computer.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Copy the product_sabbat_dual.abs file to a USB flash drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32.
4. Insert the USB into the STB and wait for it to be recognised.
5. Using the remote, press MENU, then go to Tools > Upgrade by USB.
   Ensure:
   - Upgrade Mode is set to AllCode.
   - Upgrade File is product_sabbat_dual.abs.
   NOTE: If the file isn't recognised, restart from step 2. We recommend:
   - Using a Windows PC/laptop to unzip.
   - Using a small USB flash drive.
   - Keeping the flash drive free of other files.
6. Highlight Start and press OK.
7. Read the warning. Select Yes and press OK to proceed.
8. Wait for the firmware update. When done, the STB will restart.
9. Power off the STB, remove the USB flash drive.
10. Power on the STB, go through the initial setup, and retune channels.
11. If the issue persists, press MENU, then go to Tools > Information.
    If the Software Version is not 2024-4-9, then firmware has not been updated. Repeat the process.
